Bio
Mairéad joined the Bar in 2017. She obtained her LLB and LLM (with distinction) at Rhodes University. She was formerly an attorney and served her articles (2004 – 2006) under André van Niekerk, who is now judge of appeal of the Labour Appeal Court.
Mairéad’s practice is predominantly in the field of labour and employment law. She appears in all the labour tribunals, including the Labour Court, the Labour Appeal Court, the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration and various Bargaining Council dispute resolution tribunals. She is also regularly briefed in private arbitrations and internal disciplinary processes. Mairéad has acted on behalf of major corporate entities, as well as on behalf of individuals and trade unions. She deals with both individual and collective labour law matters.
Mairéad is a Conflict Dynamics accredited mediator and has acted as a judge of the Labour Court of South Africa.
