Bio
Nerisha Naidoo attended the then University of Natal (Durban) where she obtained her BProc and LLB degrees in 1996 and 1997 respectively. She attended the School for Legal Practice and served a period of articles with M. Y. Baig & Company. She joined the firm after her admission as attorney in 1999 and headed the company branch located in the Durban CBD. Nerisha was also admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 1999.
Nerisha Joined the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in 2001 where she served as a State Advocate and a Senior State Advocate. Having resigned from The National Prosecuting Authority after 18½ years, Nerisha completed the pupillage programme with the Johannesburg Society of Advocates in 2020.
Nerisha was the Chairperson of the Public Service Association (Johannesburg and Surrounding Areas). She served as a Union Representative over several years. She prosecuted disciplinary matters on behalf of the NPA and assisted employees with their grievances against the NPA. Nerisha also served on transformation and disciplinary committees within the NPA and was instrumental in representing the PSA on a management level.
Nerisha has occupied several leadership roles during her lengthy term of service with the NPA including mentorship of Junior State Advocates and administration staff. Being a qualified life coach, Nerisha has a passion for family Law and related matters.
Nerisha appeared in the Magistrate’s Courts, High Court, and the Supreme Court of Appeal. Having run a general practice as an attorney and prosecuted many high-profile criminal trials, Nerisha conducts a general practice as an advocate with a focus in the following areas:
